High School Haircut Research Paper Example

Secondary School Haircut Research Paper Example Secondary School Haircut Paper Secondary School Haircut Paper Exposition Topic: Secondary School The hairdo of secondary school understudies has been a disputable issue for a long time. The endorsed plain short hair may look clean, yet the emphasis on the hair length beneath the ear projection on account of young lady understudies, which is fixed at one centimeter or at generally two, is very superfluous. As of not long ago, the Mayor of Tainan had attempted to convince the Ministry of Education to give the high schoolers the unconditional power to decide their own haircuts. It is hard for us to state if the thought is correct or wrong.So far as I am concerned, issues of the youthful are not kept to such a little issue as haircut; what makes a difference is the support of the understudies moral awareness, the manner in which they ought to carry on, and such. The length of their hair or whether they reserve the option to give it a perpetual wave is moderately irrelevant. Cleanness and tidiness is the main thing. There is practically nothing that stays unaltered constantly. Why do esnt the concerned authority rethink this hair business? Possibly the bickerings that acrid the relations between the military teachers and their understudies will subsequently be gone.By the way, to improve ones appearance is not all that much, right? We as a whole hope to see another look of the youthful. Possibly an adjustment in the concerned authoritys approach toward the high schoolers hairdo will achieve this. {2} In my conclusion the issue of the high schoolers hairdo has been overemphasized. So far as I probably am aware, this issue has been existing for a significant long time and conceivably in our nation alone. Secondary school understudies should concentrate hard, yet it appears that couple of care what they truly need. I simply moved on from secondary school this year.While in secondary school I didnt care much about my haircut, however at whatever point the school verified whether we had our hair style I generally felt somewhat irritated. On the off chance that anybod y neglected to have his hair style to the necessary norm, he made certain to be denounced or even rebuffed. I trust our secondary school can show a more prominent enthusiasm for helping understudies develop their psyches than in tearing apart their hair. Every so often our general public is by all accounts keen on this issue as well, yet it is a pity that the understudies own view in this issue is once in a while consulted.That is the reason understudies frequently squabble with their educators, and this shared misconstruing is regularly inconvenient to the understudies themselves. Most secondary school understudies don't generally mind what their haircut is; the thing that they meat about is maybe the consistent keep an eye on their hair length. Why doesnt the Ministry of Education discharge secondary school understudies from this specific weight? No big surprise an ever increasing number of youths in school are slanted to submit offenses. The time has come to attempt to keep our i nstructive house all together. 3} It is amazing that secondary school understudies haircut ought to turn into a disputable subjects. In actuality, this is anything but a difficult issue, in light of the fact that as I would see it secondary school understudies ought not in any case invest an excess of energy in hair care. Time is cash. The most significant thing for secondary school understudies to remember is to do well in school and be decidedly ready for the school placement tests. Since the affirmation pace of school wannabes is low, secondary school understudies should put forth a greater amount of an attempt to plan for it.Furthermore, the time of confined hair length is just from junior to senior secondary school; if the middle school understudies discover nothing amiss with their haircut, for what reason should the senior secondary school understudies protest it? So my decision is this: however it is directly for the concerned specialists to loosen up the limitations forced on high schoolers haircut in a sensible manner, the understudies themselves ought to likewise understand that their hairdo is not much, that when they are graduated such limitations on their hair will consequently get invalid and void.Although I am an undergrad now, my memory of my secondary school days is still new. As a secondary school understudy I couldn't have cared less about my hairdo; despite what might be expected, I was appreciative to the uniform haircut since I could along these lines spare a lot of time just as cash in giving less consideration to my hair. In a word, there is actually no compelling reason to make a fuss over ones hair, particularly in the event that you are only an understudy. In the event that ones hair is contrasted with a tree and ones time of training to a stream, at that point we can see that the tree will continue developing new leaves while the waterway, in the event that it ever streams, will never stream back.Youth is itself a sort of excellenc e, an advantage, so I dont figure an understudies hair will in any capacity take away from this magnificence. {4} The haircut of secondary school understudies was at one time an intriguing subject with regards to the paper. Practically all the instructors, top-positioning government authorities and educators said that we secondary school understudies ought not single out the endorsed hairdo of our own. As indicated by them, the sole obligation of an understudies was to study and study and the inward piece of the head was a higher priority than the hair that covers the scalp.Despite what they stated, I still dont like haircut forced on us secondary school understudies. I isnt delightful and it is unnatural. It would appear that some dry dim grass on a kid understudies head and a little dark cap on a young lady understudies. I am worn out on having my hair style like clockwork, yet I am obliged to do that in light of the fact that the military educator so often reviews the haircut of each understudy. To me haircut is carefully an individual issue. I like to have my hair somewhat more and be saved the difficulty of having it trimmed each so often.We understudies work under such a significant number of rules in school and we are instructed to comply with every one of them. I think a uniform plain hairdo isn't fundamental in any way. Why cant we do as we like? We are anxious to see when we are allowed to pick our own haircuts in our post-secondary school days. {5} Closely following my graduation from middle school in 1975 I entered a school to study Chemical Engineering. Therefore I have had no experience whatever as a senior secondary school understudy. I don't generally have a clue how the normal high-schoolers respond to this hair issue, so the perspective I offer here is carefully personal.The fundamental motivation behind why the specialists need to force an endorsed haircut on the high-schoolers is this would keep them from being sullied by terrible social im pacts. Be that as it may, I can refer to a guide to show that the length or the style of ones hair has no deadly impact at all on an understudies conduct. From the day they enter the school the understudies of the school are completely allowed to pick their own hairdos, yet no one says the understudies here are ruined by such opportunity. Is this enough to legitimize the interest that high-schoolers be freed from an endorsed haircut? 6} In understanding with a guideline a secondary school understudy here in Taiwan must have their hair style short. Top-positioning authorities responsible for instruction may have numerous motivations to legitimize this guideline, however the truth of the matter is that pretty much every understudy respects it with dislike. We go to class, not exclusively to pick up information yet in addition to figure out how to tell directly from wrong and gain autonomous reasoning. This is truly what the instructors or instructive authorities ought to be worried ab out, absolutely not the hair of the student.My individual experience discloses to me that the standard administering the understudies haircut is essentially the reason for unlimited difficulties among understudies and educators. Why dont they give the understudies the option to settle on their own choices in this issue? In the event that school authorities demand upholding a haircut, it will just make the understudies increasingly offended from their instructors. We trust each kid or young lady is a decent understudy, however to place this faith on an understudies neatly trimmed hair is positively guileless, if not preposterous. {7} The hairdo of secondary school understudy has for some time been a dubious issue.Authorities concerned demanded that the fixed haircut could make secondary school understudies look new and clean. I myself was a secondary school understudy. I never thought this hairdo had benefited me in any way. At the point when I was a secondary school understudy, my s choolmates regularly stumbled into difficulty with our military educator, and it was not rare that they would be granted a bad mark basically in light of the fact that their hair was somewhat longer than the recommended length. What is significant, I should get a kick out of the chance to call attention to, is the brain under the hair, not the hair on the head. The specialists need not fear the results of a dropping of the hair regulation.I accept the peace of our general public doesn't rely upon the length of ones hair, particularly on that of the secondary school understudies. For a long time we have attempted to tackle the issue of adolescent misconduct. All we have to do in this regard is to urge them to focus on their instruction and permit them more elbowroom in their exercises. To recommend a hairdo for the youthful is absolutely the least praiseworthy intends to accomplish this end. {8} I think it is okay for a secondary school understudy to wear a spotless and plain hair, h owever it isn't important to drive him to have his hair style extremely short.Such sort of short hair is basically not a style by any stretch of the imagination. A few understudies regularly squabble with their educators and military teachers over the hair issue and there are even fights pursued by the understudies to ensure their hair. The affection for excellence, we should concede, is human instinct, as is the consideration of ones hair. Actually, not in any way is the incredibly short hair delightful to take a gander at. What at that point is the sort of haircut fit for a secondary school understudy? As I would like to think, a perfect, straightforward, pleasant looking, and respectably long hair will trim the mustard. All things considered I am ery much for secondary school understudies wearing their hair respectably long, for such a hairdo won't just shield the head from introduction to extreme cold of serious warmth yet will likewise make the wearer progressively pleasant loo king. Since schooling is such an integral part of life, one would think that it would be constantly in repair, being improved so that society can improve. Some aspects of school life, however, have fallen behind. Specifically in high school, one such aspect is when the day is scheduled to start. There are have been major strides in the research of sleep, and many of them find that the common first bell for adolescents negatively coincides with their sleep schedule. The traditional time for high schools to start is based off of outdated factors.†¦show more content†¦Though the scientists did make some headway on the subject of sleep back then, they were wrong on how sleep actually works. Sleep occurs in five stages, which the brain cycles through every 90 minutes. The first stage is light s leep, where you are still partially conscious and can easily be waken from. The second stage is when your body starts to relax and the brain waves start to slow down. In the third stage, the brain waves are even slower as the brain progresses into deep sleep, or stage four. Stage four is when the muscles in the limbs become paralysed. It is also very hard to be waken from this stage. Stage five is the Rapid Eye Movement stage, or REM stage. This stage is when people dream. Out of all five stages, the most important and restorative are stages four and five. These two stages are also the most important for memory retention. Dr. Robert Stickgold, a scientist from Harvard University Medical School, has conducted studies on why the brain seems to need deep sleep and REM sleep the most for learning new things. His hypotheses state that during sleep, certain chemicals in the brain drop significantly, and all the new information flows from the hippocampus to the cortex. In the cortex, brain organizes and and strengthens the connections made on the information. The five forces being: competition within the industry. clients dickering power. providers dickering power. menace of entry of new rivals. menace of replacement merchandises. These forces shape the scheme of the company. Art: Reading the points under scientific discipline we might presume that selling is all about scientific discipline. but it is non. While we can foretell behaviours of consumers and the market by utilizing scientific methods. the determinations based on the scientific consequences are non ever correct. Take Coca-Cola for illustration. They did extended market research when developing a new merchandise – a new coke. The bulk of the participants in the research were really positive to the new coke. Management based their determination on these consequences and were certain of success when they launched the merchandise. What happened? It was a catastrophe. Peoples demanded the authoritative coke back. In fact. Coca-Cola had to relaunch the authoritative coke to the market because of the failure of the new coke. This shows that the scientific discipline of selling. even when being right within its footings it can be really incorrect in footings of selling. So to reason – selling is both a scientific discipline and art. This is why there are so large differences between sellers who win and those who do non win. On one side we have originative art managers seeking to utilize their originative accomplishments to make marketing – they normally fail because of being focused on creatively alone and non seeing the long-run image. And so we have the scientific market research workers. who stand by their Numberss and neer do a determination without exhaustively traveling through all options. These people make safe determinations. but besides incorrect determinations because they are slow of doing determinations – therefore rivals can acquire the upper manus – and they fail to see the kineticss within the market and the arbitrary psychological science of consumers. ECONOMIC TIMESBringing together this ultimate synthesis requires an apprehension of its roots. Science is the attempt to detect and increase human apprehension of how the physical universe works ; art is the procedure or merchandise of intentionally and creatively set uping elements in a manner that entreaties to the senses or emotions. One is focused on analytically understanding the universe ; the other creates new universes out of human imaginativeness. Science is contending against ignorance. uncertainness and ambiguity ; art’s enemies are bounds. obtuseness and sameness.

Silver Chair Essays - Narnia, Aslan, Underland, The Silver Chair

Silver Chair Imagine that you are in a different world from earth, time is different, and all living things around you can talk. While in this world you will go through the most amazing adventure that you could ever think of. That is just what happens in the novel The Silver Chair. It is an action packed, and keeps you wanting to read the whole way through. The author of the novel The Silver Chair is C.S. Lewis. The most well known novels that C.S. Lewis has written are The Chronicles of Narnia, which is made up of seven novels. This story takes place in the present time. The adventure in Narnia that these children go on takes about 12 days, however on earth it is like you had never left as time is different in Narnia. For example, if you left to Narnia while shooting hoops you would return to earth at that exact day and time when you were shooting hoops. This story starts out on a dull autumn day at a special school called the Experiment house. As the story goes on they are transferred to a knew magical world called Narnia. While in Narnia the children travel around a lot and go to several different places, they include: The Wild Waste Lands of the North, The Hill of the Strange Trenches, The House of Harfang, and The Underland. The main characters of this story are: Jill Pole, Eustace Scrubb, Puddleglum, Aslan, Prince Rilian, and The Queen of Underland. Jill Pole is a wimpy girl that gets picked on at the Experiment House who meets a unpopular boy named Eustace Scrubb, and the two of them travel to the magical world Narnia. Here they meet Aslan, Lord of the whole wood, and son of the Emperor across the sea. Aslan is the Lion, the Great Lion. He comes and goes as and when he pleases; he comes to help guide Jill and Eustace on their great adventure. They also get help on their travels from a Marsh-wiggle named Puddleglum, who helps guide the children as they do not know this knew world well. Prince Rilian disappeared when riding his horse in the woods about 10 years ago. The Queen of Underland is a bad green witch that is up to no good, living in the Underland of Narnia. This story starts out at the children's school (The Experiment House) where Jill and Eustace meet each other. They are both unpopular children who were hiding behind the gym from the other kinds when they noticed a hole in the wall. The hole seemed to be some sort of passage way, and at the end of this passage was a great lion. By now the teacher's and students were looking for the children, Jill and Eustace did not want to stay so they traveled down this tunnel to meet this great lion Aslan. Eustace is sent to Narnia right away but Jill is left behind, Aslan explains that he let them come to Narnia because he needs their help. What had happened was that the resent king of Narnia was very old and needed a replacement, the king has a son (Prince Rilian) but he mysteriously disappeared about 10 years ago. It was the two children's job to find Prince Rilian, and to do this they must follow the steps that the lion tells Jill. Eustace and Jill meet up in Narnia and set out on their journey, early on they meet a marsh-wiggle(Puddgelum) who joins them on there great journey. First they must travel to the Wild Waste Lands of the North or the Land of the Giants. It is very rough terrain and very cold, Jill and Eustace are dying for a warm place to stay. The three travelers bump in to a beautiful lady dressed in green and a mysterious knight dressed in black, the lady explain that they could stay with the giants. They would provide food, cloths, and a warm place to stay, because Jill and Eustace are so hungry and tired they decide to go to the castle(The House of Harfang). Puddgelum explains that this might be a bad idea but they still end up going, while staying there the three of them find out that the giants are planning to eat them. They barley get away from the giants, and it was just by fluke that they crawled underground to the Underland. While in the Underland they meet a lot of the little munchkin people,

Autism essays

Autism essays Autism, in short, is a very serious medical disorder that begins in young children and remains with them for their entire life. Its characteristics are the limited ability to communicate and interact with other people. The condition becomes more noticeable when the child reaches the age when their peers are starting to speak in phrases and play together socially. Autism occurs in every two to six out of every thousand births. Autism has many different symptoms and which can be extremely severe or very mild. Positive diagnosis of autism requires that the subject have symptoms from each of these three categories: restricted and repetitive interests and behaviors, abnormal social interaction, and abnormal communication. Children with autism will display abnormal social interaction. Such behaviors would include failure to seek comfort from a parent and lack of eye contact. A child with autism will have a hard time finding friends at school, because they isolate themselves from other children. One symptom of autism is that children may not respond when someone calls their name. An article from World Book online states that, They (the autistic children) do not understand the social behaviors necessary to make friends or work with teachers. This lack of social contact isolates people with the disorder from many experiences by which most people come to understand the world. Some children with autism will not develop speech at all because of the disease. Those who do will take a longer time to develop it than other children their age. A child who has autism may respond in a variety of unique ways. According to the Autism Society of America, In some cases, aggressive and/or self-injurious behavior may be present. Children with autism may talk for hours upon end just about one subject. Also autistic children will most likely not speak in common English but in a very exact way. According to World...

Economic concepts assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Economic concepts - Assignment Example It is easy to identify, recognize and account for the explicit cost because these costs are documented in the company’s statement. Additionally, physical objects and money based transactions are usually involved in explicit costs (Arnold, 2008). Implicit cost: Implicit costs are also known as implied costs, economic costs, or notational costs. It is directly opposite to the explicit cost. Implicit costs are not actually exposed or accounted as costs. Implicit costs are commonly explained as opportunity costs or the loss of an opportunity in a specified time or condition. Implicit costs are usually related with the intangibles assets and often cannot be traced or documented. These costs include: waste of potential opportunities, wastage of time, and profit wastage. Implicit costs give up the potential paybacks and agreements in a certain transaction of business. Just place, an implicit cost is the loss of a potential profits or assets that did not come about (Gartner, 2009). QU ESTION # 2 U shape cost curve: It is a representation of how the average cost for manufacturing a single unit changes over with the passage of time. The average cost of manufacturing per unit is high in the beginning and decreases as overall production increases. It is because of the fact that the same fixed cost is shared by more units or product. However, if the marginal cost of producing one more unit increases the overall cost again starts to increase because of the diminishing returns. Hence, when it is plotted on a chart, the cost curve seems like the letter U and for this reason is known as U shaped cost curve (Leamer, 2009). Long run cost curve: The long run cost curve is also called cost function in the microeconomic theory. It relates the cost of production to the amount of production and shows the implications of the long run decisions and proceedings on the cost of production of the company. The long run cost curve is the combination of several short run average cost cur ves and is generally U shaped because of the law of diminishing returns (Mankiw, 2009). Average cost curve: The average cost or unit cost is identified by dividing the total cost of production to total number of units produced in the company. An average cost can vary with passage of time with the increase or decrease in the cost of production. The average cost curve is also U shaped because of the fixed cost being shared by increasing products and at the same time marginal cost increasing because of the diminishing returns (Wessels, 2000). QUESTION # 3 Law of diminishing return: This concept of economics stating that, as the quantity of new input (workers, materials, etc.) increases, the marginal product of an added input at same position will be less than the marginal product of the preceding input. For example, consider a plant that uses manual workers to manufacture its items for consumption. If every other factors of production stay constant, at one stage each added worker will give less output then the preceding worker. When this stage is confronted then each extra worker will give less and less returns. If new workers are continuously added, the factory will in the end turn out to be so crowded that added workers in point of fact reduce the competence of the other workers, lessening the production of the plant. Another general example of law of diminishing returns is described as follow: If the population of the city increased then per capita income is decreased. And

Interactive Whiteboards Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Interactive Whiteboards - Essay Example "And the color, movement, sound and participation all come without messy chalk, stinky dry erase markers and copies of transparencies" (par. 2). Interactive whiteboards offer tremendous benefits not only for students, but also for teachers. They assist "people of many learning styles and save teachers time and space. Lessons can be saved into the system and can easily incorporate countless videos, maps, photos and websites. Teachers can pause videos and write notes on the screen, science classes can explore frogs through virtual dissection and geometry figures can be rotated, shrunk or expanded" (par. 18). In short, they make classroom instruction more efficient and learning more fun and interesting. The ability to harness the power, depth and breadth of the internet in this manner offers infinite new ways to try and reach out to students to grab their attention and improve their understanding of the material. There are many examples of ways in which this new technology has been and can be applied within the classroom. "Teachers can put a pyramid on the board and turn it so the class can see all the angles and sides. Students can count vertices by touching them on the board and setting them off in another color. Teachers can bounce between editing a paper on the board to searching for something online to illustrating what 1/16th of an inch looks like on a ruler" (par. 4). Any subject from math to literature to art and music can greatly benefit from these cybertronic chalkboards. This emerging hardware technology is significant because of its potential to revolutionize classrooms and teaching approaches. In the past, classroom instruction has tended to be one dimensional, very static, and non-interactive. Teachers would write on chalkboards or overhead slides, and would often be confined to the limited universe of often out-of-date instructional aids and materials to which they happened to have access. The ability of students to actively participate in a lesson, beyond raising their hand to answer the teacher's questions or make comments in a class discussion, was quite limited. With interactive whiteboards, teachers have the ability to take their lessons "outside of the box." Virtually any material available on the internet that pertains to the subject matter being taught can be summoned right then and there during a classroom lesson. This enables a much more detailed, nuanced and up-to-date discussion of the material. Further, students have a much greater opportunity to participate in the lesson in a meaningful way in which they can really interact with and digest the material. For example, at Centerville Elementary School in Minnesota, the technology prompted students to utilize their down time more productively, gathering around the board to review the material that had been taught earlier. "Using their fingers they dragged numbers on the screen into blank spots on a triangle as part of a math problem. When it's time for the class to leave for their next activity, one student pleads to the teacher, 'Can we check if it's right before we go'" (par. 11). As part of a literature lesson at the same school, teacher Tony Valenti used the device to bring to life the book

Determining a substance by tritration Essay Example for Free

Determining a substance by tritration Essay Aim: Using the procedures of a standard acid base titration lab, the goal of this experiment is identifying the amount of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) that is presented in a calcium carbonate substance presented by our teacher. Hypothesis: Due to any unknown substance that we encounter in the chemistry room, we must take serious precaution, as the substance may very well be highly contagious and dangerous to smell, touch or taste directly. The only ability that we posses that can be used to observer this substance is our vision that is going to help us in determining the concentration of the substance. Although that with vision only, it will not suffice the need that is necessary to make that judgment as we need quantitative data (finding the exact concentration of calcium carbonate). Unless we have prior knowledge about this substance, the processes of a titration must be used. My hypothesis begins that this has about 60% concentration. Variables: Independent Variable: There is none in this experiment. The goal of this lab is not to include any variables that will change the concentration of the calcium carbonate. We need constant results for the concentration of the calcium carbonate, as that will determine the actual concentration of the calcium carbonate in our substance. Dependent Variable: The volume needed to titrate the calcium carbonate solution by using the phenolphthalein indicator. Though it is a clear substance, the indicator will change its color into pink when the solution becomes a base from an acid. By determining the amount of hydrochloric acid is needed to change the color of the solution, we can determine the concentration of calcium carbonate through some calculations. Controlled Variables: 1. The Distilled Water: The distilled water will be the only water that will be used during the entire experiment. The distilled water was prepared and resented by our teacher. 2. The calcium carbonate substance: The calcium carbonate substance was constant throughout the entire experiment. 3. The Hydrochloric Acid: The hydrochloric acid was one of the main components of this experiment. Therefore this acid was also prepared and presented by the teacher. 4. All Equipment: All the same equipments such as the pipette and the filter paper were used throughout the experiment. Apparatus: * Unknown white powdered substance * 50cm3 burette * 3 250cm3 Erlenmeyer flask * 200cm3 for hydrochloric acid * 0.1M of Sodium Hydroxide * Burette clamp * Retort stand * Distilled water * Goggles * Filter paper * A funnel * Phenolphthalein indicator * A scale * Paper towel * A spoon * Pipette * Pipette sucker * White paper Method: 1. First set up the retort stand and the retort clamp as indicated by the diagram below. Of course, the flask must be prepared in the subsequent steps. However unlike the diagram, place a white piece of paper beneath the flask so that the color change becomes more easily visible. 2. After placing the paper towel and scaling the scale, measure out approximately 10.0 grams of the unknown substance and record the exact mass 3. Add 200cm3 of 1.00-mol dm-3 hydrochloric acid and stir until the reaction is complete. 4. Filter the solution and withdraw 10cm3 using a pipette and make up to 100 cm3 in a volumetric flask. 5. Titrate 10cm3 portions against a standard 0.1M NaOH using the phenolphthalein indicator. 6. Record both quantitative and qualitative data. 7. Repeat the process of titration three times. Observation (Data Collection): Measurements: * Mass of Calcium Carbonate solution: * Burette: Calcium Carbonate solution made using 250cm3volumetric flask with an uncertainty of ?0.5cm3 * Pipette: 25.0cm3 of 0.100moldm-3 NaOH(aq) ?0.04cm3 Chemical Equations: Before we delve into the calculations, it is best that we list the necessary chemical equations of this lab. One must note that in this experiment, that there were two chemical reactions. Firstly, the first experiment occurs when the white substance mixed with the HCl. The second chemical reaction took place when the HCl solution meets with the .1M of NaOH 1. 2. Qualitative Data: Description of the substance used and produced Hydrochloric Acid Clear, viscous, Calcium Carbonate White, powder form Phenolphthalein Indicator Clear solution, comes in a bottle, add as drops Solution Produced in the end Bubbly, white liquid, most of the unknown mixture dissolved Clear/pink throughout. Quantitative Data: Measurement Recorded During the Experiment Trial 1 2 3 4* Initial Burette Reading (ml?0.05cm3) 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 Final Burette Reading (ml?0.05cm3) 5.45 5.90 5.60 5.40 *To note, for the calculations below, the supervisor at the time suggested the best data to use would be the average of the HCl used because the numbers found were very consistent. Calculations The following steps were taken so to find the % by mass of CaCO3 in the mixture 1. The moles of acid presented in 200cm3of 1.00 mol dm-3hydrochloric acid. 2. The moles of acid presented in 10cm3of the acid solution titrated. 0.00056molof HCl 3. Multiply the volume present in the volumetric flask. 4. The total moles acids remaining after the reaction with CaCO3 5. Subtract the value in 4 from that obtained in 1 to find moles acid used. 6. The stochiometric equation for the reaction of HCl and CaCO3 Hydrochloric acid+Calcium carbonateCalcium chloride+water+Carbon dioxide -Therefore the molar ratio is 1 mole of calcium carbonate to 2 moles of hydrochloric acid 7. Using this and the value in 5 to calculate the moles of CaCO3 present. Then calculate the mass of CaCO3 8. Using the value found in step 7 and the original mass of the mixture, here is the calculation to find percent of the mixture is made up of CaCO3 Uncertainties: * * * * Total Uncertainty= Conclusion: This experiment in general was very interesting. During this lab, I was able to learn of how we can identify the amount of a substance by knowing the concentration and volume of another. We were able to do so as we knew the moles and concentration of sodium hydroxide that had enabled us to find the unknown concentration of calcium carbonate. Because the actual percentage of CaCO3 was not given, we must concur that the accuracy of this lab has been affected and therefore must be assessed by our uncertainty percentage. The percent of uncertainties represents the desultory errors that may have occurred, which either may make the measurements bigger or smaller than the accepted value, due to imprecise measurement. One way to avoid future random errors, better equipment may be needed, or repetition of the measurements. Despite the uncertainties based on lab equipments and other mediums of measurements, one of the biggest possible sources of error lies in the systematic errors of this lab, especially finding the exact endpoint. Though the pink color should indicate when the endpoint is reached, in trial 2 and 3, the solution turned a faint pink color and my partners and I did not know whether that faint pink indicated the endpoint. This could have resulted in a measurement lower than the actual value. To possibly improve this source of error, I believe more time and trials should be allotted to the students. When I was doing my experiment, we were only given a single class time to follow the procedures, write down our notes, and clean up our experiment. If more time was allotted, then higher quality recordings could be made. This would then give us a clearer idea when the endpoint actually is. Next, though it is unlikely, to improve this lab we may have to rinse the burettes and other flasks prior to performing this lab. In my chemistry classroom, burettes and flasks are arranged so that the clean ones are clearly seen and labeled while the used ones are in the sink. However it could be possible that another student may have placed an unclean burette in the cabinet full of clean equipments. Therefore, for accuracy purposes, all equipment should be washed using soap and tissues. Reviewing and understanding the errors can significantly improve this experiment. Though my hypothesis of the concentration being 60% calcium carbonate was wrong, this experiment taught me the value and usefulness of the process of titration.

Religion :: essays research papers

Genetic Engineering Genes, or chromosomes, are often referred to as "blueprints" which are passed down from generation to generation. From the study of these hereditary materials, scientists have ventured into the recent, and rather controversial, field of genetic engineering. It is described as the "artificial modification of the genetic code of a living organism", and involves the "manipulation and alteration of inborn characteristics" by humans. Like many other issues, genetic engineering has sparked a heated debate. Some people believe that it has the potential to become the new "miracle tool" of medicine. "Advances in the field of genetic engineering could mean progress on an unprecedented scale for all civilization" - Gail Dutton To others, this new technology borders on the realm of immorality, and is an omen of the danger to come. They are firmly convinced that this human intervention into nature is unethical, and will bring about the destruction of mankind. "†¦ the promise of genetic engineering as a tool of medicine is matched only by the threat it would pose to human society and civilization." - Ann E. Weiss Rapid advances in medical science have fuelled the question of bioethics. However, as science takes leaps and bounds towards its goals, ethics are often just learning how to crawl. In fact, it has even suffered major backslides in some cases. Genetic engineering "raises serious ethical questions about the right of human beings to alter life on the planet". Changing the basic physical traits of an organism can lead to an unprecedented threat to life on the planet". With such dire consequences, where do we draw the line? What View Does Science Have on Genetic Engineering? For the first time in history, evolution has taken a backseat to the meddling of humankind with their own genetic makeup. There is an "ongoing realization that humanity is capable of directly shaping its own and other species’ evolution". As we ease into the twenty-first century, we realize that genetic engineering is undoubtedly going to have a dramatic effect on our lives. It seems that "with genetic engineering, science has moved from exploring the natural world and its mechanisms to redesigning it." Now, we must ask ourselves this, will that influence be for better, or for worse? However, even the responses of science differ in this topic. Scientists remain divided in their opinions. Some have warned against the hazards of genetic engineering, while others have dismissed these perils as inconsequential. Two opposing viewpoints, which is right?

Modern Family Essay

The show â€Å"Modern Family† is one of the most successful sitcom on television today. The show depicts a total of three families, a parental family, (Jay and Gloria) and the families of the two grown siblings, (Mitchell & Claire). Claire is married to Phil and has three children of their own, while Mitchell is a gay father with a live-in husband, Cameron. The on-screen worldview of the families are very open with an almost anything goes attitude that is based on an atheist or an agnostics perspective. The limited amount of shows that I watched did not display any references to God. The family values portrayed the â€Å"New Normal†, that is currently being offered on many new television shows. On the show, I witnessed a lot of light-hearted moments that made fun of the life choices that each character made, and how different characters resolved them. The comedy is situational, and dilemmas faced are often real-life, but offer whimsical, light-hearted solutions. The shows worldview is secular, but adheres to defining the â€Å"New Normal† in its application. The three families all interact with each other and depict three different types of households, all coping with everyday problems that define that particular group. When dealing with gay issues, Mitchel and Cameron are in the fore front offering an exaggerated look and perspective. Family issues are addressed by Phil and Claire, and how they interact with parenting of their three children. Jay and Gloria deal with life from viewpoint of an aging father, who marries a younger woman, who is currently pregnant with his child. The shows core values are loosely interwoven with standards and practices that suggest an anything is â€Å"OK† attitude, which would be expressed by secular humanist. Observations of this show are based on my own personal up-bring and how we handled different situations in our lives. My Christian parents would not have been so excepting of two men living together. Our family believed that marriage is between a man and a woman. â€Å"‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable†, (Leviticus 18: 22, NIV). Our family values were centered on our Catholic faith, whereas we believed and trusted in the Lord. In the show, Phil (husband of Claire) is portrayed as being a weak father figure, who is often laughed at and scorned by his family. He constantly wants to be everyone’s friend and does not fall into the role of a strong and guiding force within his family. In contrast, my father was the head of our household, and for a long time he was the sole provider. Both church and prayer were a large part of our daily lives. These are beliefs and traditions that I have passed onto my family. My views are in direct contrast to this sitcom. Its impact on my family is very little since I am not a regular viewer and the show is a negative influence on my personal worldview. I believe that the influence of this show on the American public is limited in scope. Many people watch and except the shows premise for what it is, just a funny comedy that really has no real value or worth. Other people will see it as an example of how a modern family should behave and create those same dynamics in their household. I see this show as a negative influence when it comes to the family. Television has a way of shaping public opinion. If enough similar programing is available, we as a society tend to accept the â€Å"New Normal† without question. In conclusion, the show â€Å"Modern Family,† is a portrayal of the American family that presents an atheist view on life. I saw no reference to God or even a slight suggestion that the family has a religious background. In today’s society the family is always being redefined by the media and has no religious insight. Television networks record on social and moral issues is very poor. The television executives believe the theory that they are open and honest, and present a product that the public wants. Modern Family is one networks’ answer to what is considered the â€Å"New Normal†, in today society.

The Civil Right Movement History - 1705 Words

The Civil Right Movement History can be absurd and sometimes can illustrate great accomplishment by great people. Why history is so important and significant to today’s society? It is something that people require to know about the pass and not remaking those same type of mistake again. Hence, history helps the world to understand changes and how the past causes the present to be the way it is in today’s society. Though the United States became a country with a rich foundation and great accomplishment that is well recognized around the world, but there is the dark and heartless side of it. For Instance, the Civil Rights Movement Is one of the good example that was viewed very negative by the worldwide. There was so many discriminations and harsh commitment toward American America. Even though African American gain freedom for being slave, equality was not granted by the white people. Essentially, the Civil Rights Movement was an important time during the 1950’s and 1960’s that helps eliminated segregation and gain equal rights for all African American citizens. Many leaders such as Martin Luther King, Rosa parks, Malcom X, and Andrew Goodman put themselves at risk.
